Open
What does the word "open" mean to you?
If you are an open person, you are seen as honest, truthful, confident and positive in outlook. You are most likely a relatively calm person who takes life in their stride and are unlikely to be worried over much. You are also lilely to be seen as the kind of person who has no secrets, be they dark or otherwise. Openness is a welcome character trait because people can warm to you easily and feel comfortable in your presence.
Learning to be Open
You can learn to be an open person, even if you start out as a closed one. This is something anyone can do if they are determined enough to want to change a character trait they are not happy with. It takes work, there is no getting away from that fact. And it takes some measure of perserverence because old habits are going to have to be changed. Those habits include ones you were very likely brought up with as a child and have harbored all your life.
It may not sound like its a very easy thing to do and with good reason. It is not easy and it will take a lot of mental re-working and changing of old paradigms. But it can be done. You can be whatever you choose to be. You just have to decide to be it. Then work at becoming what you want to become.
Forgive Yourself
You can become an open, honest person when you really put your mind to it and totally let go of the old "you". Forgive yourself for any guilt you may be holding on to. Let go of all frustrations, all anger and all resentment toward any other person or situation. Let go of any guilt. These emotions are not welcome in your new self and you must work towards creating a mindset that is predominantly happy, friendly, calm and loving. Good emotions like these will banish the bad ones as long as you keep focused on them.
When you turn your attention away from the things that you do not want, including bad emotions and instead focus your attention on the things that you do want, including the good emotions you want to have, then the bad will simply dwindle away for lack of attention, while the good will grow to take its place. Its all done in your mind and no one else can do it for you. Its all you, only you. Believe, therefore that you can do these things and practise doing them every day and over time, you will see changes.
You can become an open person. Want it and you will become it.
